The former President of the Republic of Ghana, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings was laid in state at the forecourt of Accra International Conference Center (AICC) for family and loved ones to pay their last respect.
While the program was underway, a 52-year-old woman stormed the premises claiming to be the the first biological daughter of the late former President.
The woman, identified as Abigail Mawutor Rawlings has stated emphatically that JJ Rawlings is her biological father and she’s more than ready to subject herself to a DNA test to attest her claim.
Amidst the developing chaos, there’s a report that the family of Rawlings has reacted to the claim.
According to a report on news portal Mynewsgh, the Rawlings‘ family opened a welcoming arms for Abigail Mawutor into the family in the year 2002.
Though they noted that Rawlings neither confirmed nor denied being the biological father of the woman, they admitted he often sent her money for upkeep and other business purposes.
A family member who spoke with a plea of anonymity commended Rawlings‘ estranged daughter for being committed to the activities of the family after being welcomed.
He noted that Madam Abigail Mawutor Rawlings has for all these years been part of activities in the family at Dzelukope since she met the family but she never revealed publicly.
Nevertheless, they believe she’s now out with the secret because she’s not being allowed to mourn her late father as supposed a daughter.
In addition, it’s unclear whether Rawlings opened up about his immediate family about her concealed first daughter or he kept it to himself.
