The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed his readiness to name University of Development Studies (UDS) after the late former head of state, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.
Recall about 3 years ago, Nana Akuffo-Addo suggested the move to naming the Tamale-based University after Rawlings but he (Rawlings) knocked back the idea.
Well, the President has finally sealed the decision after revealing the family has given him green light to the proposal to naming the renowned tertiary institution after His Excellency The Late Jerry John Rawlings.
According to President Akuffo-Addo, Rawlings provided seed to the establishment of the University and as such, the rational step is to it named after him.
